January 2024 Ft. Lauderdale Fishing Report January 2024 was a big month out on the water. Lots of nasty weather, a ton of trips and a whole bunch of quality fish! Between the the cold fronts, high winds and rain we made the most out of every opportunity and still got the job done. The shrimp run started off strong with tons of jumbo shrimp blowing into the inlets at night with tarpon crushing every bait they find. Huge snook showing up to get their piece of the action too! Between miami and Ft Lauderdale every night this month had a hotspot that was going off. Tarpon in the 80lb range were common and the snook were almost all HUGE. Had a few 40″+ fish to the boat. Incoming tides at night produced best in Ft Lauderdale, fished a few nights down in miami and the outgoing at govt cut was a sure thing each time. Still using some bigger baits during the day to bring up larger fish but as night closed in we were switching to shrimp. Fishing them 3 ways on floats, flatline and on split shots.
